Stopping car theft

Unfortunately there has been an increase in theft from cars and theft of cars locally.

We've been out with the police going door to door on this issue.

And now they have sent us this important advice on preventing theft from keyless cars, which are particularly at risk.

Please share it with your neighbours in street WhatsApp groups or share in other ways to help us prevent crime:

  • Keep keys away from windows and doors, and out of communication range with your car.

  • Use a signal-blocking pouch.

  • Wireless signals on some keyless fobs can be turned off. Look in your car manual to see if this is possible.

  • Get a steering wheel lock.

Please keep an eye out - if you spot anything unusual let the police know, and let your neighbours know if you can.

P.s. the next police and community meetings - which all are welcome at and are attended by local police plus at least one of us - are on Tuesday from 7pm at the Welcome In, and Wednesday from 7pm at St Chad's Parish Centre. Come along to discuss local crime issues.
