We held a drop in surgery at the community centre and then a street surgery in Meanwood on Friday. It was great to chat to quite a number of residents on issues ranging from cleaning up a pond to local crime and housing casework. And it was great to see the new 20mph signs for Monkbridge Road, it's been a long time coming and we're really thankful for the whole community getting behind the campaign and signing our petition. It made a difference.
We're aware there is an issue with the flashing Speed Indicator Device still thinking it's a 30 and have asked for it to be fixed!
Meanwood centre - we've met with reps from Meanwood Valley Partnership and a Highways officer to talk about greening up the new space for pedestrians. And last night was the Meanwood Valley Partnership AGM, again this was on the agenda as well as other things that need to change to make the junction safer. We're talking this feedback through with the team alongside councillors from our neighbouring ward of Moortown, and will keep working to make sure the new centre is as pleasant and safe as possible. The work on the junction is itself not quite finished - the signalling is not yet optimised.
The meeting last night was inspiring, there's so much great community work in this area with some lovely ideas to make the centre an even better place to be. We're here to support it.
