We work hard to make sure the local police are aware of street by street crime issues, and to ensure that we're pro-actively working together to tackle long term problems such as anti social behaviour and speeding.
Here's an update from the team from the last month. We regularly meet with the police, including at local Police community meetings (PACT) to ensure local concerns are influencing their priorities:
UBER / Deliveroo Riders
Seven riders have been given tickets for either obstruction, pavement riding, or running red lights. This work will continue to try and instil better riding standards around the Headingley area.
Taxi licensing operation
To coincide with Otley Run start at Woodies. Taxis stopped and spoken to by police and Taxi licensing. Four taxis had their permits revoked on the day.
Bin lorry operation
Working with the council's cleaner streets team around congested side streets, to enable smoother bin collections. Six cars moved when drivers identified. None seized.
Student properties
Work was carried out with the council's anti-social behaviour team to deliver leaflets to student properties.
Roads policing
In conjunction with the Off-Road Bike Team, recovered two stolen bikes. One that had been stolen only half an hour earlier from the Arndale Centre. Also recovered tools used in the thefts, as well as the victim's coat and mobile phone. Off Road Bike Team are currently conducting forensics on the recovered items to ID suspects.
Arrest of drunk driver who crashed car through garden wall.
Recovery of abandoned car being used as drugs drop.
Drivers pulled over for speeding on Weetwood Lane, Silk Mill Way, and Tinshill Lane
