Leeds inspirational women honoured with historic plaques

We attended an amazing unveiling ceremony today - after a lot of hard work, six plaques bearing the names of inspirational women from Leeds were added to the walls of the council chamber in the Civic Hall.

When the Civic Hall was built in 1933, the names of inspirational men were added to the walls of the council chamber - but no women!

Today we put that right and added Leonora Cohen, Alice Bacon, Gertrude Paul, Beryl Burton, Ivy Benson and the Barnbow Lasses to the walls of the council chamber. So, so proud to be a woman of Leeds today!!!
