Book launch - Meanwood Men / VE Day Anniversary

Here's a message from Ron at the Meanwood Men Project about an exciting upcoming event:

The Medical Section of the Moortown Homeguard was unusual in that its members included women volunteers. The women carried out the full range of Home Guard activities and were trained in the use of firearms. Three of the women who served with the Medical Section are shown during an exercise at Eccup.

Was your dad, grandad, uncle involved in WW2? Was your mum, grandma, aunt an ATS girl or worked in munitions?

If so, we’d like to hear their stories and recognise their contribution to the war effort in an exhibition that is part of a project commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the end of the war.

A book about the lives of the 46 Meanwood Men who died during the war will be launched at the exhibition on 10th May and a concert held in celebration that evening.

Do you have any memorabilia, photos, documents, posters etc that we could borrow for the exhibition? Please get in touch on email at meanwoodmen46@yahoo.com

Fancy helping us? We are looking for volunteers to help on the day/evening plus, anyone with experience of stage lighting and audio visuals development. Please use the same email as above.
