Petition: Cost of living support under threat

Should the government extend the Household Support Fund for 2024/25? (see below for more detail)

In each of our election campaigns we've pledged to make sure there is support available to those who are struggling with the cost of living.

​

Through our work locally and across the city, Leeds now has a lot of really good help available.

​

But much of this good work is now under threat.

​

A combination of huge funding cuts and inflation makes it harder and harder to deliver, and now to top it off the government has failed to renew the Household Support Fund.

​

This is funding for each local authority to use to support households with the cost of living.

​

In Leeds we use it to fund:

​

  • One off payments to low income households

  • Urgent energy and food support for struggling households

  • Local charities and community groups who support vulnerable people and those facing financial hardship

​

We need the government to urgently confirm renewal of this fund.

​
